How long can you live with rectal cancer?

The survival time of rectal cancer is related to the patient’s cancer stage, individual condition and treatment, etc. The specific time cannot be generalized. Rectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the gastrointestinal tract, and the incidence trend is gradually getting younger in recent years. In early stage rectal cancer, the lesion is limited to the mucosal layer and muscular layer, and after radical treatment, the prognosis of patients is better, with a five-year survival rate of up to 90%. The overall five-year survival rate of mid-to-late stage rectal cancer can be reduced to 40%-50%, and even when distant liver metastasis, lung metastasis and brain metastasis occur, the survival time of patients will be even shorter, and the average survival time may only be about one to one and a half years. It is suggested that rectal cancer patients should have regular medical checkups for early detection and treatment to win longer survival time. Pay attention to light diet in life and avoid too spicy and stimulating food.
