How to give first aid to children with febrile convulsions

Children with febrile convulsions first need to unbuttoned to keep the child’s airway open, followed by the use of physical cooling or antipyretic drugs to lower the temperature in a timely manner, and it is best to get to the doctor in a timely manner. Children with febrile convulsions should first be the child to pillow lying down, placed in a safe area, unbuttoned collar, to maintain an open airway, as far as possible, the head to the side (to avoid because of salivary secretion caused by the wrong inhalation), and do not give the child in the convulsive episodes of feeding drugs. Do not give medication to the child during a seizure. If you are afraid of tongue bite, hold the child’s chin firmly. Secondly, lower the temperature, because febrile convulsions are mainly related to “high fever”, so timely reduction of fever can avoid recurrent febrile convulsions. Warm water baths or medication to lower the temperature, try to control the body temperature within 38 ℃. Finally, seek medical attention. If the child’s recurrent seizures last more than 5 minutes, it is necessary to immediately send to the hospital. Because repeated convulsive seizures can cause severe hypoxia or even life-threatening. If your child’s seizures resolve on their own after 2-3 minutes, try to send them to the hospital for relevant examinations, such as EEG, biochemical tests, etc., to further clarify the cause and rule out other diseases.
