The normal value of progesterone after pregnancy is 25 ng/mL, which can gradually increase throughout the pregnancy as it progresses. At 40 days of pregnancy, progesterone is about 30ng/mL, which is normal. As long as the progesterone is above 25ng/ml in early pregnancy, there is no need to worry. If symptoms of pre-eclampsia occur, such as lower abdominal pain or a small amount of vaginal bleeding, this is also not a cause of low progesterone and generally does not require progesterone supplementation. When this occurs, the patient’s presentation should be examined to determine if there is some other cause for the pre-eclampsia abortion.
