How can an elderly person tell they have a tumor without a gastrointestinal exam?

Instead of gastroenteroscopy, the elderly can see the presence of gastrointestinal tumors through tumor markers, abdominal enhancement CT, barium meal X-ray, and rectal palpation.
1. Tumor markers: CA199, carcinoembryonic antigen, CA125, CA724 are usually elevated in patients with gastrointestinal tumors.
2. Abdominal enhanced CT: Abdominal enhanced CT can show the scope of tumor, local lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis, and then determine the stage of tumor.
3. X-ray barium meal: X-ray suggests that there are changes such as niche shadow and filling defect.
4. Rectal palpation: In rectal cancer, general palpation can touch the size, shape and hardness of the mass, and even there is blood-stained fingerstick.
Gastroenteroscopy with biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis, but when the patient can not perform gastroenteroscopy, he/she can also judge his/her condition through other tests under the suggestion of doctor.
