Is it normal for a newborn to have a temperature of 37.2°C?

A newborn temperature of 37.2°C is usually normal if there are no other accompanying symptoms. There are three ways to measure the body temperature of newborns: oral, anal and axillary. The normal value of oral temperature is 36.3°C~37.2°C; the normal value of anal temperature is 36.5°C~37.5°C; and the normal value of axillary temperature is 36.0°C~37.2°C. Due to the imperfect development of the thermoregulatory center and the relatively large body surface area, newborns are susceptible to fluctuations in body temperature due to external environmental temperature disturbances. For example, if the ambient temperature is high or the neonate is wrapped tightly, the neonate is prone to have an elevated body temperature, which will come down when the neonate is removed from the environment or the clothes are loosened. If environmental factors can be ruled out and the body temperature still tends to rise after observing for a period of time, then pathological factors should be considered, and the cause of the disease should be identified and treated in a timely manner in the hospital. Daily attention to the newborn’s warmth, normal is good, should not be too thick, pay attention to feeding methods and dietary hygiene.
