What are the Functions and Indications of Adamantine?

Adamantium, also known as “sarsaparilla”, is used to remove dampness and turbidity, dispel wind and paralysis, and detoxify and dissipate blood stasis. It is used for treating drenching of urine, excessive discharge, rheumatism and paralysis, furuncles (sores on the limbs or face, small in shape with deep roots, hard as nails), carbuncles and swellings, etc. It is also used for treating the pain and swelling of the skin. Adamantium, the dried rhizome of Sarsaparilla, family Liliaceae. Its flavor is sweet, slightly bitter, astringent, and flat. It belongs to the liver and kidney meridians. Because of its effect of inducing dampness and removing turbidity, it can treat dribbling and astringent pain in urine, turbidity and indistinctness, and profuse discharge; it enters the liver and kidney meridians and can treat rheumatic paralysis caused by deficiency of the liver and kidneys (weakness of the liver and kidneys); and it can detoxify and dissipate blood stasis, treating ulcers and swollen poisons. Vajrapani belongs to traditional Chinese medicine, its adverse effects and contraindications are still unclear, it should be used under the guidance of a professional Chinese medicine practitioner’s diagnosis and should not be taken on its own to avoid risks.
