The sensation in the arm during a stroke is related to the site of the stroke. If the patient has a stroke in the thalamus area, there may be numbness, pain and ankylosis in the affected arm, and individual patients may also experience pins and needles pain. If the patient has a stroke in the basal ganglia region, there may be weakness and inability to lift the affected arm. If the patient has a stroke in the center of the semiovals, the patient may experience weakness of the affected arm, accompanied by numbness. Therefore, the sensation in the arm during a stroke is related to the location of the stroke and the size of the stroke lesion. The diagnosis can be confirmed by head CT and MRI, and the treatment should be directed to the stroke. If the patient has an ischemic stroke, anti-platelet aggregation, improving circulation, activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis can be given. If the patient has a hemorrhagic stroke, dehydration, lowering of cranial pressure and surgery can be given.
