In the “Acupuncture and Moxibustion”, it is said that “the belly and abdomen stay in the three li, the waist and back are sought in the committee, the head and neck are sought in the column, and the face and mouth are collected in the hegu”. The four major acupuncture points of the foot, the middle, the column, and the hegu are very broad in scope, covering many diseases of the whole body, regardless of deficiency, reality, cold, or heat, and have been favored by various medical practitioners. The four general points can be seen as based on the “Ling Shu Jing? It is an evolution of the “From the waist up, the hand Taiyin-Yangming is in charge; from the waist down, the foot Taiyin-Yangming is in charge”, which is the embodiment of meridian dialectics and a model of distant acupuncture points. Foot San Li is located three inches below the outer knee eye and is the healing point of the stomach meridian. The spleen and stomach are the backbone of the human being, and the stomach meridian is closely connected to the heart, liver, gallbladder, spleen, lung, large intestine, and small intestine, and can influence each other, therefore, the foot San Li has the effect of strengthening the spleen and stomach, tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi, and opening the intestines to guide stagnation. This point can be taken for all diseases of the belly and abdomen. The Guizhong point is located directly behind the knee and is a healing point of the Foot and Sun Bladder meridian. The foot-sun meridian runs from the head down to the foot, straight through the backbone and waist, and is at the meeting point of two branches of the bladder meridian that come from the waist and back, making it an important point for treating back problems. It can be used for acute lumbar sprains, lumbago caused by wind, cold, dampness and heat, and kidney deficiency lumbago, and is most suitable for those with actual symptoms. It is located at the intersection of the tiger’s mouth of both hands, with the index finger of one hand pressed on the radius of the other hand, in the depression under the fingertip, and is a lung meridian point. It is suitable for both deficiency and actual symptoms, as it also connects the yin and yang of both surface and internal meridians. Hegu, also known as Tiger’s mouth, is located on the back of the hand between the first and second metacarpal bones, near the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, at the highest point of the muscles when the thumb and index finger are together, and is the original point of the large intestine meridian. The distribution of the large intestine meridian and its tendons pass through all parts of the face and mouth, so massaging the Hegu point can treat all kinds of disorders of the face and mouth, including the head and face, the five senses and the lips and teeth. The Ling Shu – Meridian Chapter says: “The meridian is the beginning of all pricking.” The four general points are located below the elbow and knee, and are selected from the original meridian points, which are “accessible to the meridians, and accessible to the main treatment”. Therefore, it is essential for family health care to be flexible in dialectical treatment and to use appropriate techniques for the four general points.
