What is the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center

The hypothalamic thermoregulatory center is located in the preoptic area of the hypothalamus, where thermosensitive neurons are present in the anterior hypothalamus. The hypothalamic thermoregulatory center is the central control part of autonomous thermoregulation, and the resulting efferent messages control the activities of the controlled system, such as driving the skeletal muscles to stand to produce heat, changing the caliber of the blood vessels in the skin, and promoting the secretion of sweat, thus keeping the body’s heat production and heat dissipation in balance. When there is a change in the internal and external environment and the body temperature is disturbed, the disturbance information is fed back to the thermoregulatory center through the temperature detection devices, that is, the temperature receptors present in the skin, as well as in the deep part of the organism. After the integration of the center, it sends appropriate messages to adjust the activity of the controlled system and establish the body temperature balance under the prevailing conditions.
