How to detect jaundice in newborns

Neonatal jaundice can be examined by physical examination, bilirubin test, fecal examination and ultrasound examination.
1. Physical examination: The doctor can determine the yellowing of the skin and the mental condition of the child through physical examination such as visual inspection, percussion, palpation and auscultation.
2. Bilirubin test: A bilirubin test is needed when a newborn baby shows signs of jaundice.
3. Stool examination: the color of stools of newborns with jaundice may become darker or grayish-white stools may appear.
4. Ultrasound: It can check the condition of the liver and whether there are organic lesions such as hepatitis and cirrhosis.
If jaundice occurs in newborns, it is recommended to bring the child to the doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for relevant treatment.
