What to do if your cornea is damaged

For simple corneal epithelial abrasions, antibiotic eye drops or ointment are used to prevent infection and recovery will occur naturally within 24-48 hours. If the damage is severe, clearing or suturing is required. Depending on the cause of the corneal damage and the extent of the damage, only then can the treatment plan be decided. For severe corneal damage, clearing and suturing is not possible and surgery such as corneal transplantation needs to be considered. If the corneal infiltration is damaged due to inflammation, antibiotic eye solution or eye ointment is needed, as well as eye solution to promote corneal repair. Some of them may be caused by impingement or conjunctival stone friction, resulting in corneal epithelial damage, and the original disease needs to be treated.
