What to do if a child has a cyst on the upper eyelid

Children’s upper eyelid cysts may be caused by blepharocysts and sebaceous cysts, which can be treated with general treatment, medication and surgery as prescribed by the doctor to alleviate eye discomfort.
1. Blepharophalangeal cysts: Blepharophalangeal gland outlets are blocked for various reasons, resulting in aseptic chronic granulomatous inflammation, and thus cysts may appear on the eyelids of children. If the size of the cyst is small and the child has no obvious symptoms, no special treatment is needed. If the size of the cyst is large, the child may undergo surgery to remove the cyst and relieve eye discomfort.
2. Sebaceous cysts: Swellings caused by the accumulation of sebaceous gland contents after the sebaceous gland ducts in the eyelids are blocked. Smaller cysts do not require special treatment, and children should avoid scratching and squeezing the affected area. If the cyst is large, the child may be treated with laser therapy or surgery to remove the cyst and relieve eye discomfort.
It is recommended that children with cysts on the eyelids be seen by a doctor for evaluation and treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
