What to look for in employment for people with epilepsy

Due to the sudden nature of seizures, people with epilepsy should avoid blindness when choosing an occupation. Patients who have some ability to work, whether for society or for life, should try to do work, is what we advocate, but what do epilepsy patients need to pay attention to when they are employed? Patients should also follow the following principles: (1) Sudden seizures at work, they will not be accidentally injured. In other words, the work environment should be safe. If you have a seizure, you should not work in a safe environment, such as electrician, machine operator, water work or near-water work, work at height, underground work alone, fireside, blasting, sheet, occupation or work with strong alkali, strong acid, or highly toxic products, where a seizure would endanger the patient’s safety. (2) The work environment will not form a trigger for seizures. For example, strong physical labor and long hours of reading, chess, calculating, drawing and excessive mental work can easily cause fatigue; work environments with strong noise and light stimulation can easily stimulate patients’ nerves; work with strong odor stimulation can also cause patients to have seizures. Epilepsy patients should never be engaged in these occupations or work in. (3) Seizures can occur at work without causing harm to others or society. If the patient has a seizure, the patient will not be the only one who suffers.
