A choledochoscope is an endoscopic device that examines the biliary system and cannot examine abdominal abscesses. Abdominal abscesses are more often examined using imaging methods such as ultrasound and CT, which can also be explored or treated laparoscopically. Cholangioscopy is mainly used for examination and treatment of biliary system diseases, such as cholelithiasis, bile duct stenosis, bile duct space-occupying lesions, biliary tract malformations, etc., which can be categorized into intraoperative cholangioscopy, postoperative trans-fibrous sinusoidal cholangioscopy, percutaneous hepatic aspiration cholangioscopy and so on according to the different modes of action, but it can not be used for examination of abdominal cavity abscesses. Abdominal abscesses are currently examined using imaging methods, and most superficial abscesses can be observed and localized using ultrasound, and then treated with puncture and aspiration. If the abscess is deeper or the neighboring organs and tissues are more complicated, CT scan of the abdomen can also be performed to determine its size and location. Patients with abdominal abscesses are advised to go to the hospital as soon as possible to have their condition evaluated by a medical professional before choosing the appropriate examination and treatment.
