Dendrobium and Paeonia lactiflora are not found to have contraindications between the two, generally can be used together, but should follow the doctor’s advice.
Dendrobium, sweet, slightly cold. It belongs to the stomach and kidney meridians. It is effective in benefiting the stomach and generating fluids, nourishing yin and clearing heat. It is used in the treatment of heat illness with fluid injury, dry mouth and thirst, gastric yin deficiency (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), poor food and dry vomiting, deficiency of kidney yin, darkness of the eyes, and impotence of sinews and bones. This product can astringe the evil, so warm and feverish disease should not be used early; and can help dampness, if the dampness and warm heat has not yet turned dry and injurious to the Jin people should not be served.
White peony, bitter, sour, slightly cold. It belongs to the liver and spleen meridians. Its effects include nourishing blood and regulating menstruation, astringing yin and stopping sweating (astringing yin fluid and reducing sweating), softening the liver and relieving pain (treating pain caused by deficiency of liver yin and liver blood), and calming liver yang.
It is used in treating blood deficiency and yellowish color, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia (excessive or dripping menstruation), spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with slight movement), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up) and other conditions. It should not be used together with Veratrum. It should not be used in cases of Yang failure, deficiency and coldness.
Dendrobium can be used with Paeonia lactiflora to treat the hidden pain or burning pain in the stomach and epigastric cavity of stomach heat and yin deficiency, and dry vomiting with little food, and there is no contraindication between the two, so they can be used together.
