Do benign esophageal tumors need chemotherapy after resection?

Usually chemotherapy is not required after resection of benign esophageal tumors, but patients need to seek regular medical review.
Clinically, for intraluminal type of small and long-tipped tumors, they can be removed endoscopically, while intramural and submucosal tumors can be removed by thoracoscopic or open thoracic surgery. After benign esophageal tumor resection surgery, the patient’s outcome is relatively satisfactory, and usually does not need to take chemotherapy. However, after surgery, patients need to see a doctor regularly for review, and if benign esophageal tumors are found to be malignant, chemotherapy will be needed.
Esophageal malignant tumors usually require combined treatment, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, immunotherapy, etc., in order to improve the therapeutic effect. Regular blood tests are needed during chemotherapy to determine whether bone marrow suppression occurs.
It is recommended that after the resection of benign esophageal tumors, regular medical follow-ups should be conducted to monitor the changes of the condition. Daily attention should be paid to maintain physical and mental happiness and avoid excessive worry about the condition.
