Is 130/90 considered high blood pressure?

Blood pressure of 130/90 mmHg, if multiple measurements on non-same day are correct, hypertension grade 1 can be diagnosed. Hypertension is diagnosed when blood pressure is measured 3 times on non-same day with systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg without the use of antihypertensive drugs. Hypertension is categorized into 3 grades based on the level of elevated blood pressure, and grade 1 hypertension (mild) has a systolic blood pressure of 140-159 mmHg and/or a diastolic blood pressure of 90-99 mmHg, so a blood pressure of 130/90 mmHg falls into grade 1 hypertension. Because of the low number of office blood pressure measurements and the marked fluctuation of blood pressure, 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is required if a diagnosis of hypertension is to be confirmed, especially for mild to moderate elevations in blood pressure. If available, 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring or home blood pressure monitoring should be performed. If there is any discomfort, consult a doctor promptly.
