What’s wrong with acid reflux?

Acid reflux is a gastrointestinal symptom. When there is too much acid in the stomach, the acidic secretion will irritate the gastric mucosa and cause acid reflux. Causing excessive stomach acid and acid reflux may be related to physiological factors such as excessive fatigue, food and drugs, or pathological factors such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and gastric ulcer.
1. Physiological factors:
(1) When you are highly stressed and overworked, it may lead to increased secretion of gastric acid.
(2) Consumption of foods that are too spicy, too acidic, too salty, or too hot may stimulate excessive secretion of gastric acid.
(3) Taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin may stimulate gastric acid secretion.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): it is more common and may be accompanied by complications such as esophageal stricture and esophageal erosion in severe cases.
(2) Gastric ulcer: patients may have gastric emptying disorder, which leads to excessive secretion of gastric acid and acid reflux, and may be accompanied by periodic stomach pain, such as postprandial pain and abdominal pain.
There are many other causes of acid reflux, if the symptoms are serious, or continue without improvement, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital in time, after clarifying the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor for targeted treatment.
