How soon after surgery for choledochal cysts to be rechecked

It takes about 4 to 8 weeks to recover from choledochal cyst treatment, so a follow-up examination is performed one month after surgery to observe its recovery. Subsequent reviews are performed every six months to observe any recurrence.
Surgery for choledochal cyst usually involves partial resection of the cyst and the surrounding upper or lower portion of the choledochal duct, followed by flushing of the residue with saline, and finally anastomosing the choledochal duct to the jejunum to restore the flow of bile. Therefore, tests such as magnetic resonance biliary hydrography are performed after one month postoperatively to ensure that normal anatomy and function of the common bile duct is maintained postoperatively.
It is important to note that postoperative management is very important. So care should be taken to avoid strenuous exercise, emotional stress, oily and stimulating foods, smoking and drinking.
Diet should be light and nutritious, eat more vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins and dietary fiber, and eat less food high in fat and cholesterol, such as animal offal, egg yolk and so on.
