Yang He Tang is composed of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Ephedrae, Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Cinnamon, Radix Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae and Charcoal of Cannulated Ginger, and its effects are warming Yang and tonifying Blood (warming Yang Qi and replenishing Blood), dispersing cold and clearing stagnation. Yanghe Tang is used to treat yin gangrene (a general term for a class of slow-acting yin sores and ulcers). For example, it can be found in the following diseases: bone gangrene, demodic gangrene (cold and numbness of limbs at the beginning, necrosis of toe joints, black rot and ulceration of toe joints, long time without healing), flow injection (multiple abscesses in the deep part of muscles), phlegm nucleus (lumps swollen up like nucleus under the skin), craniocervical fungus, etc., with diffuse swelling of the affected area without a head, unchanged color of the skin, soreness and pain, no heat, no thirst in the mouth, light tongue with white moss, and dull and thin or slow and thin pulse. This formula is commonly used in the treatment of yin gangrene (a general term for a group of slow-onset yin sores and ulcers). Clinical application takes diffuse swelling of the affected area without head, unchanged skin color, soreness without heat as the key points of diagnosis. If it is accompanied by deficiency of qi, it can be supplemented with Codonopsis pilosulae and Astragalus membranaceus to replenish qi; if it is accompanied by heavy yin cold, it can be supplemented with Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori to warm yang and disperse cold (warming yang qi and dispersing cold); cinnamon can also be changed into cinnamon sticks to strengthen the warmth of blood vessels and the effect of camping and blockage.
