With the improvement of living standards, the number of obese people is gradually rising trend, China’s population overweight proportion has reached more than 22.4%. Once suffering from obesity, many people not only have a lot of inconvenience in life, psychological discomfort, more importantly, the incidence of high blood lipids, high blood sugar and cardiovascular disease associated with it will be significantly higher. The preferred method of weight loss is dieting, followed by exercise, Chinese physical therapy, weight loss drugs and restrictive gastric surgery. Adjustable gastric band bariatric surgery features and adaptable people Adjustable gastric band bariatric surgery was first carried out in the United States in the 1990s, and quickly became popular in Europe and the United States because of its safety and exact efficacy. It was introduced to China in 2002, and the Second Department of General Surgery of Linyi People’s Hospital introduced this surgery in 2006. It is the earliest hospital in Shandong Province and the surrounding provinces of Jiangsu, Henan and Hebei to carry out gastric band bariatric surgery, which has benefited many moderately and severely obese people in Shandong Province and neighboring provinces, with the most weight loss reaching 35 Kg. Adjustable gastric band bariatric surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses three to four small holes of 0.5 to 1 cm in the abdomen to place an adjustable gastric band. A silicone band with a water bladder is placed around the upper part of the stomach through three to four small holes of 0.5 to 1 cm in the abdomen, which can easily produce a feeling of fullness after eating, thus making the obese patient feel less hungry, eat less voluntarily, and reduce caloric intake to achieve weight loss. The features of this procedure are: ①minimally invasive; ②safe (no change in the anatomy and function of the gastrointestinal tract); ③adjustable (the amount of food eaten and the speed of weight loss can be adjusted by injecting water into the water bladder); ④effective and scientific (weight loss of 2 to 3 kg per month after surgery); ⑤reversible (the gastric band can be removed when needed (e.g., when pregnant)). Gastric banding is not the first choice for weight loss, but it is the most effective and last resort for moderate and severe obese people (BMI>32). Since the moderately obese have a longer weight loss process, greater hunger tolerance when dieting, and more inconvenience when exercising than the mildly obese, some of the moderately and severely obese will fail to lose weight, have difficulty adhering to it, and are prone to rebound, and these people are suitable candidates for gastric banding. Their age range is 18-65 years. The total cost of hospitalization for gastric banding for weight loss is more than $40,000, with gastric banding being more than $30,000. The number of days in the hospital after surgery is one to two days.
