What is the chemotherapy regimen for peritoneal mesothelioma?

Pemetrexed combined with platinum-based chemotherapy is preferred for inoperable patients of peritoneal mesothelioma, and postoperative chemotherapy can be supplemented with peritoneal perfusion chemotherapy and other programs.

1. Adjuvant chemotherapy: Surgery is the first choice for peritoneal mesothelioma, and pemetrexed combined with platinum (cisplatin, etc.) chemotherapy can be chosen for patients who cannot be operated, which is better for the patients’ disease control, and it is suggested that patients should take 2~3 cycles as a course of treatment, and 21 days or 28 days as a cycle.

2. Peritoneal perfusion chemotherapy: it is a common postoperative adjuvant treatment, common for postoperative long-term normothermic peritoneal perfusion chemotherapy, mostly carried out after 4~6 weeks of postoperative period, every 3 weeks for a cycle, a total of 6 cycles, choosing paclitaxel and pemetrexed and other drugs.

Peritoneal mesothelioma should be detected, diagnosed and treated early to improve the survival rate of patients. Daily attention should be paid to regular review to monitor the changes of the condition, and timely consultation when discomfort occurs.
