There are risks
Carotid artery stenting is a minimally invasive procedure. All clinical procedures and operations carry some risks, the main difference being the magnitude of the risk.
During the procedure, the mesh of the stent will have a cutting effect on the plaque of the carotid arteries, which are mostly soft plaques that can be easily cut, and the tiny plaques that are cut may enter the brain with the arterial blood flow and lead to cerebral embolism. A good umbrella should be placed over the carotid artery in advance to collect the broken plaque.
Carotid artery stent installation requires the use of contrast media, some patients may be allergic to some contrast media due to physical problems, mild allergy rest and observation is the main, moderate or more allergy to stop the injection of contrast media, and the use of dexamethasone and other drugs to fight allergies.
