Brushing your teeth correctly is the only way to effectively maintain good oral hygiene as well as the health of your teeth and reduce tooth decay! Correct brushing method is the key of the key Whether you use an electric toothbrush or a manual toothbrush, you need to master the correct brushing method. Electric toothbrushes are more efficient and still require you to place the toothbrush at the right angle and in the right position. If you opt for a regular toothbrush, the proper brushing method becomes even more important. The most recommended brushing method is the modified Pasteur method, followed by the Pasteur method and the Fones technique. Pasteur method Place the toothbrush in the gum sulcus, with the bristles of the toothbrush on the neck of the tooth where the teeth meet the gums, covering the gums a little. Tilt the toothbrush at 45 degrees and gently apply pressure to the gum sulcus with a force that bends the front 1/3 of the toothbrush bristles slightly. Brush every surface of every tooth The tooth surface and tongue surface should be brushed: in groups of 2~3 teeth, with small vibrations from left to right. Be careful not to brush horizontally, as this can easily cause wedge-shaped defects – defects in the shape of a “>”, with a small groove appearing near the gums. Lingual surfaces of the front teeth: hold the toothbrush upright and use the front half of the brush to brush, vibrating up and down. Occlusal surfaces of the teeth: place the bristles vertically on the surface and brush back and forth. Finally, don’t forget to brush your tongue, which is densely populated with bacteria. Doing so will help you maintain fresh breath. Modified Pasteur brushing method Modified Pasteur brushing method is based on the Pasteur brushing method, an additional step: in accordance with the Pasteur brushing method, 45 degrees brush through the gum grooves, with the bristles of the teeth from the gum grooves to the teeth of the occlusal direction of the teeth swept once (i.e., every time you finish brushing the gum grooves of the 2 or 3 teeth, and then the upper teeth to the bottom, the lower teeth to the top of the sweep once again).
