What is cerebral palsy and what are the common causes?

Pediatric cerebral palsy, also known as pediatric cerebral palsy, cerebral palsy, childhood cerebral palsy, or cerebral palsy (CP) for short. It is a syndrome caused by non-progressive brain injury during the period of brain development from before to after birth, with various manifestations, which can be accompanied by mental retardation, convulsions, auditory and visual impairment, and behavioral abnormalities, etc. It is one of the major disorders that cause disability in children. Current scientific research has found that cerebral palsy and embryonic developmental abnormalities are closely related! The common causes of pediatric cerebral palsy are the following four major categories: 1. Causes of pregnant women: including abdominal trauma of pregnant women, preterm abortion, prenatal hemorrhage of pregnant women, toxemia of pregnancy and placental causes (placental abruption, placenta praevia, placental necrosis or placental malfunction), and certain chronic diseases of pregnant women (hypertension, hepatitis, diabetes, drug addiction, drug overdose, etc.) . 2, brain injury: such as infant brain injury during delivery, newborn cranial injury or brain infection, cerebrovascular accident. 3.Premature birth and fetal dysplasia: intrauterine infection, slow intrauterine growth, congenital malformation. The possibility of cerebral palsy greatly increases when the newborn weighs less than 2500 grams (about 40% of children with cerebral palsy weigh less than 2500 grams) 4. Hypoxic asphyxia: including fetal hypoxic asphyxia in the mother’s womb, neonatal hypoxic asphyxia during delivery, respiratory distress syndrome, peripheral circulatory failure, erythrocytosis. Certain genetic diseases and neonatal nuclear jaundice.
