Referring to the third edition of the textbook Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgery, 17% of the general population in China have different degrees of tinnitus, and the incidence of tinnitus in the elderly can reach 33%. The mechanism of tinnitus has not been fully elucidated, and is related to lifestyle, outer ear, middle ear, inner ear and central auditory pathway pathology. Tinnitus is a subjective symptom, not a disease, and is mainly characterized by abnormal sound hallucinations in the ear in the absence of an external sound source. Referring to the chapter of tinnitus in the third edition of the textbook of otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, 17% of the general population in China have different degrees of tinnitus, and the incidence of tinnitus in the elderly can be up to 33%. Secondly, according to epidemiological studies, with the change of people’s life style and living environment and rhythm, the incidence of tinnitus is gradually increasing, seriously disturbing the daily life of patients. In addition, the incidence of tinnitus increases with age and is more common in men than in women. The mechanism of tinnitus has not yet been fully elucidated, and the causes of tinnitus are related to noise, ototoxic drugs, aging and other factors, as well as otitis media, high blood pressure, Meniere’s disease and other diseases. Patients need to go to the hospital in a timely manner to complete the examination and treatment after identifying the specific cause.
