How long does it take to report results of pancreatic puncture

A puncture biopsy of a lesion in the pancreas usually takes about three days to have a preliminary pathology report, and about a week for immunohistochemical findings. The results of the puncture are usually processed one day after the sample is taken and then processed with dehydration equipment. Sections are taken the next day and pathology is done on the third day. Results are usually available after three days. If it is more complicated and requires immunohistochemistry, this is usually extended by one to two days. If immunohistochemistry is used to determine if it is benign or not, then molecular testing is necessary and the report will take longer, about seven days. How long it takes to get a report on pancreatic puncture depends on the specific case, and if the results are abnormal, early and standardized treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
