Cough with sputum is not necessarily a new type of pneumonia, because many diseases of the respiratory system can present with cough with sputum, like bronchodilatation, lung abscess, pneumonia, bronchitis, lung malignancy, and tuberculosis. Diagnosis of novel coronavirus pneumonia: 1. close contact with the diagnosed patient. 2. blood test usually shows normal or decreased total white blood cell count and decreased lymphocyte count. 3. CT of the lungs will show imaging changes of pneumonia, which mostly show ground-glass-like changes or plaque-like shadows. 4. positive viral nucleic acid tests. With the above points, the diagnosis of new coronavirus pneumonia can be confirmed.
