If the eye hurts like being hit, there are usually two aspects to consider: the first aspect is that there is no obvious conjunctival congestion or tearing, and it is more likely to be caused by overuse of the eye, or a foreign body in the eye that is causing the swelling and pain or foreign body sensation. In this case, you need to rest and use some water to flush your eyes, preferably with sterile saline, to avoid infection. Secondly, if the foreign body sensation or pain is still not suppressed after rinsing, you need to go to the hospital for an examination of the cornea under a microscope, which may often be due to a foreign body in the cornea or damage to the corneal epithelium. The foreign body can usually be removed under the microscope and the nature and depth of the damage should be determined. Antibacterial medications and corneal nourishing medications are needed to prevent infection and to promote healing of the corneal epithelium, which usually takes about 2-3 days to fully recover.
