Rehmannia glutinosa has the effect of clearing heat and fire, generating fluids and quenching thirst, etc. It is suitable for fever and thirst, lung-heat cough and so on.
Maogan, cold in nature, sweet in taste, belongs to the lung, stomach and bladder meridians. It has the basic efficacy of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, clearing heat and inducing diuresis, and is suitable for bleeding due to blood-heat, oedema, feverish drenching (burning and stinging pain is obvious when urinating, accompanied by frequent urination and urgency, and discomfort of pulling in the lower abdomen), jaundice, coughing with lung-heat, and irritable thirst of febrile diseases. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the drug are not clear.
