The recent onset of blinding symptoms should be considered for the possibility of hypotension, some of which may be postural hypotension, such as when the position changes from prone to standing or squatting. This condition is most often seen in the elderly, who in many cases have postural hypotension or postprandial hypotension, which may lead to bleary eyes when it occurs. This hypotension can also occur in young people, and some young women who have insufficient blood volume to diet may develop hypotension, which can also lead to the appearance of bleary eyes. When symptoms of bleary eyes appear, patients are advised to take blood pressure immediately to see if it decreases significantly.
