There is a white layer on the left side of the vocal folds which is very uncomfortable and may be called vocal fold leukoplakia, which is mostly caused by smoking, drinking, inflammation of the throat, gastroesophageal reflux, etc. Surgery and medication are feasible. Vocal cord leukoplakia belongs to precancerous lesions and should be closely observed. If during the observation period, the white spots on the vocal folds gradually ease and disappear, then no special treatment is needed. However, if the white spots on the vocal folds continue to increase in size, conservative treatment, such as nebulized inhalation of budesonide, a light diet, less spicy and stimulating food, and abstinence from smoking and alcohol are possible. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical excision is required to remove the vocal cord leukoplakia as completely and thoroughly as possible to avoid recurrence of the disease. Often used to support laryngoscopic mass removal or carbon dioxide laser surgical resection. If gastroesophageal reflux causes vocal cord leukoplakia, acid-suppressing drugs can be used after surgery to avoid recurrence, such as pantoprazole, omeprazole and other drugs. It is recommended that patients consult the doctor in a timely manner to check their condition, and actively standardize the examination and treatment under the guidance of the doctor, and the above drugs need to be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
