Cornus officinalis can be used to treat spermatorrhea, enuresis, and disintegration, and silken loosestrife can treat all kinds of rheumatic paralysis.
Cornus officinalis is slightly warm in nature and has a sour and astringent flavor. Because it can tonify the liver and kidney, it can be used to treat lumbar and knee soreness, tinnitus, impotence and other diseases. Because of its astringent effect, it can be used to treat spermatorrhea, enuresis, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), excessive menstruation, and profuse sweating.
Loofah is flat in nature, sweet in taste and belongs to the lung, liver and stomach meridians. It can treat rheumatic paralysis and is often combined with Angelica sinensis, Gentiana macrophylla, and Cynanchum officinale. As the drug can activate blood circulation and enter the liver meridian, it can treat chest and hypochondrium distension (swelling and pain in the chest and rib area) caused by stagnation of qi and blood.
Chinese herbs need to be used under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner’s diagnosis, and should not be used privately to avoid causing damage to the organism.
