Manifestations of liver fibrosis on ultrasound

The manifestations of liver fibrosis ultrasound include: liver tissue echogenicity is thickened and uneven, the envelope is not smooth, and the volume of the liver will be reduced. Liver fibrosis is usually cirrhosis, generally divided into compensated and decompensated stage. Compensated cirrhosis is also known as early cirrhosis, most of them do not have clinical symptoms, some of them may have symptoms of greasiness and indigestion, which are mostly related to fatigue. ultrasound shows that the liver is mildly enlarged, with slight thickening of hepatic tissues, the periphery of the liver is still smooth, and it may be accompanied by mild splenomegaly, and there is no dilatation of the portal vein and the splenic vein in general. In uncompensated cirrhosis, which is the middle to late stage of cirrhosis, the clinical manifestations are mainly liver insufficiency and symptoms caused by portal hypertension, such as jaundice, ascites, pain in the liver area, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc. Ultrasound shows that the liver is reduced in size, the periphery of the liver is not smooth, and it may be jagged, the liver tissues are thickened obviously, the echogenicity is not uniform, the blood vessels and the bile ducts in the liver are not clear, and it may be accompanied by splenomegaly, and dilatation of the portal vein and splenic vein, etc. In severe cases, nodularity may appear in the liver.
