Surgical operation for neonatal cryptorchidism

Cryptorchidism in newborns usually does not require surgical treatment for the time being. If surgery is required, it is usually performed according to the steps of preoperative localization, intraoperative searching for the testis, freeing the testis, and fixing the testis. If cryptorchidism is detected in newborns, surgery is usually not needed as soon as possible because some children’s testicles can gradually drop to their normal position as they grow and develop. If surgery is needed after a physician’s evaluation, then the physician’s advice should be followed. At present, the main surgery for cryptorchidism is testicular descent fixation, which is carried out according to the following steps: 1. Preoperative localization: ultrasound or magnetic resonance is used to determine the location of cryptorchid testis before surgery. 2. Finding the testicle: According to the preoperative localization, a suitable incision is usually made in the inguinal position and the testicle is found through the incision. 3. Free the testicle: Separate the fat and other excess tissues around the testicle from the testicle, and free as much as possible along the spermatic cord in the direction of the stomach, so as to increase the space for the testicle to descend. 4. Fixing the testicle: After the testicle is free until it can be placed into the normal position of the scrotum, the testicle is fixed with a thread to sew the testicle and the flesh inside the scrotum so that the testicle will not shrink back. If there is any discomfort such as hidden pain, the child should be brought to the regular hospital for treatment according to the doctor’s advice.
