Hyperbaric oxygen therapy refers to the treatment of hypoxic diseases and related disorders by breathing pure oxygen or highly concentrated oxygen in a high-pressure environment. Clinically, it is mainly used to treat various kinds of poisoning (such as carbon dioxide poisoning, pesticide poisoning, etc.), cardiovascular diseases (such as coronary heart disease, cardiogenic shock, etc.), traumatic brain injury and other diseases. Absolute contraindications to hyperbaric oxygen therapy include untreated pneumothorax, untreated malignant tumors, and untreated active bleeding. Cranial defects after craniotomy are not among these contraindications. Therefore craniotomy can be done with hyperbaric oxygen therapy even if there is no skull to facilitate improvement of symptoms. If there is a need for treatment, it is recommended that it be done after evaluation by a physician.
