Common symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome include diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, and in some patients, acid reflux, heartburn, belching, and other symptoms. Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional bowel disease characterized by abdominal pain, bloating or abdominal discomfort, accompanied by defecation habits, and/or changes in fecal character. 1. Diarrhea: Most often occurs in the morning or after meals, and can be continuous or intermittent episodes. The stools are small in volume and may contain mucus, but usually no blood. 2. Abdominal pain: mostly in the lower abdomen, with fewer episodes at night. There is no regularity in the onset and duration of the pain, which can be relieved after evacuation or defecation. 3. Constipation: there may be a feeling of incompleteness after defecation, and diarrhea and constipation may occur alternately. For some patients, there may also be acid reflux, heartburn, belching and other symptoms, and even fatigue, urinary frequency and other symptoms. For the diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, it is recommended that the diagnosis be considered by the doctor in conjunction with the clinical symptoms,, medical history, and colonoscopy during the consultation.
