Can children with epilepsy go to school and be physically active?

A child with epilepsy should try to participate in the activities of normal children: this will reduce feelings of inferiority and avoid the development of a lonely personality. In general, a sick child should be allowed to attend school. Learning, thinking, and remembering do not induce seizures. Some parents do not allow their child to go to school, play with other children, or participate in any activities because he or she has epilepsy, which is not correct. Children with epilepsy can participate not only in school, but also in various activities organized by the school, such as spring trips, visits and extracurricular recreational activities. If the seizures are particularly frequent and cannot be controlled with medication, this situation precludes participation in school and extracurricular activities. Can I participate in sports activities after school? This is also an issue of great concern to parents because seizures come very suddenly and there is a fear of danger if they occur during sports. In fact, as long as the seizures are not too frequent, you can participate in sports activities. Active physical exercise can also reduce the chance of seizures. As for what kind of sports activities to participate in, you can choose according to the age characteristics and interests of children, young children can participate in a variety of games, running, shooting ball, etc., older children can participate in gymnastics, rope skipping and various ball activities, if there is adult supervision, you can also participate in swimming. If seizures are not controlled and are still frequent, it is best not to participate in dangerous sports, such as climbing, swinging, bicycling, etc. Although children with epilepsy can participate in sports, they should pay attention to rest and not overdo the exercise. You should not be overly stressed about your studies and get enough sleep every day.
