How long does it take to get the results of a new coronavirus nucleic acid test?

Nucleic acid testing for novel coronaviruses is generally performed using kits, and results generally take about 6 hours, so results are often available on the day of collection. A negative test means that the virus was not detected, while a positive test means that the novel coronavirus was detected in the specimen. In fact, the current nucleic acid test has the potential to be a false negative, meaning that even a negative test does not completely exclude the patient from infection. If the new coronavirus is negative, the specimen should be collected again a day later and another coronavirus nucleic acid test should be performed, and only if both times are negative can the infection be ruled out. False negatives have a lot to do with the specimens taken and the way they are taken. If specimens from the patient’s lower respiratory tract, such as alveolar lavage and deep sputum, can be taken, the positive rate of coronavirus nucleic acid testing can be significantly increased.
