The basic requirements of massage therapy can be summarized as persistence, power, uniformity, gentleness and penetration. Persistent, that is, massage therapy needs to last for a period of time; powerful, that is, when massage, its techniques should be heavy but not stagnant, light but not floating; uniform, that is, the frequency of massage techniques should be within a certain range, with perseverance, natural transition, and consistency. Softness, that is, the massage should make people feel comfortable, not hard, and its strength should be within the acceptable range of the patient; penetration, that is, the strength of the massage should penetrate into the internal tissues, in order to achieve the purpose of promoting and regulating the patient’s qi and blood.
