Gallbladder stones 3cm in diameter are not necessarily serious. The diameter of a gallbladder stone is not the only criterion for seriousness. Some gallbladder stones that are 3cm in diameter or larger do not necessarily produce clinical symptoms. However, studies have shown that if gallbladder stones over 3cm are left untreated for a long period of time, the chances of gallbladder cancer will increase by more than ten times. Gallbladder cancer is a highly malignant digestive tumor, and even with surgical treatment, the 5-year survival rate is less than 5%. Therefore, gallbladder stones with a diameter of more than 3cm should be treated with surgery in time, and laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the first choice. However, even if the diameter of gallbladder stones is less than 3cm, or even less than 1cm, if the stone is located in the gallbladder duct and neck of the gallbladder, it is easy to cause ingestion, causing stone cholecystitis. If timely surgical treatment cannot be given, it is easy to cause pus, perforation or even gangrene of the gallbladder.
