When the testicles of male babies come down

Male baby testicles may come down during pregnancy or 1-2 months after birth. Normally, the male child’s testicles are in the abdominal cavity during the mother’s pregnancy, but as the pregnancy time increases, the testicles will gradually descend until about 9 months of pregnancy, when basically the testicles will also descend into the scrotum. Therefore, most male children are born with testicles in their scrotum. However, there are a small number of male children who are born without testicles at all when felt by hand. As the child grows up, the testicles will slowly descend into the scrotum 1-2 months after birth. Also, about 80% of young boys will descend into the scrotum on their own within a week of age. If a boy’s testicles have not fully descended after one week of age, he should promptly go to the hospital for an examination and treatment in conjunction with a doctor’s opinion. Boys who are two weeks old whose testicles have not descended into the scrotum will need a descending fixation procedure.
