Rabies vaccination is still needed after the bite

If you have been bitten again after receiving a rabies vaccine, you probably do not need another rabies vaccination. This is because the previous rabies vaccination probably allowed the body to produce a relatively high concentration of rabies-neutralizing antibodies, which are able to prevent rabies. However, this also depends on whether the previous rabies vaccination was given in full, and also whether the current bite is likely to infect you with rabies. If the previous full vaccination was given and did not last long, it is likely that another rabies vaccination is not needed. However, this specific timing is not exactly the same recommendation on different sources. Some recommend immediate injection at the time of the bite, some recommend no injection for 3 months, and some recommend no injection for 6 months. It is generally recommended clinically that no further rabies vaccination is required within 6 months, with the option of a booster shot after 6 months and a full shot after 3 years, and most use this regimen.
