Perianal abscesses with pus formation must be treated by surgical incision and drainage, and the normal healing of the incision must be facilitated by regular drug changes after surgery, which normally takes about 10 minutes per change. For superficial perianal abscesses after incision and drainage surgery, each drug change can be done with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution or iodophor solution for 10 minutes in a sitz bath. Then, the secretions inside the abscess cavity are cleaned up with iodophor swabs and treated with external sterile gauze wraps. The sitz bath and drug change should be performed 2-3 times a day, especially after defecation. For deep perianal abscesses after incision and drainage surgery, the abscess cavity should be flushed with saline at each drug change, and the deep pus must be flushed out. Then fill the abscess cavity with gauze as drainage and wrap it with gauze externally to prevent the incision skin from healing before the abscess cavity.
