Depending on the dosage form, lipoic acid can be used by intravenous drip, intramuscular injection and oral administration. Intravenous drip is usually added to 100-250 ml of saline, 250-500 mg/day for half an hour, or 300-600 mg/day in severe cases; intramuscular injection is usually no more than 2 ml at one site; oral administration is 200-300 mg/day, 2-3 times/day. The drug is a coenzyme that promotes glucose utilization and prevents hyperglycemia-induced neuropathy, and is mainly used for sensory abnormalities caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
