How to use lipoic acid

Depending on the dosage form, lipoic acid can be used by intravenous drip, intramuscular injection and oral administration. Intravenous drip is usually added to 100-250 ml of saline, 250-500 mg/day for half an hour, or 300-600 mg/day in severe cases; intramuscular injection is usually no more than 2 ml at one site; oral administration is 200-300 mg/day, 2-3 times/day. The drug is a coenzyme that promotes glucose utilization and prevents hyperglycemia-induced neuropathy, and is mainly used for sensory abnormalities caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Possible adverse reactions to the use of this drug are allergies (eczema, hives, etc.), convulsions, and retesting. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the drug, pregnant and breastfeeding women, newborns, etc. The product should be applied strictly under the supervision of a doctor, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
