The cost of urinary stone surgery should be related to the location of the stone and the type of surgery. For ureteral stones with ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy, the cost is about$17,000. For huge stones in the kidney to do percutaneous nephrolithotomy, the cost is about$30,000. For stones in the upper part of the ureter or stones of moderate size in the kidney, a soft ureteroscopy is done at a cost of about$40,000. Stones that are very small, less than 0.5cm, can in principle be drained on their own without surgery.
