Are there any after-effects of IUD surgery?

IUD surgery generally refers to the placement of a birth control device inside the uterus for contraceptive purposes. There are usually no after-effects, but complications may occur, such as ectopic birth control device, incarceration or breakage of the birth control device, pregnancy with the device, and so on.
1. Ectopic birth control device: Due to perforation of the uterus, oversized or too hard birth control device, or thin uterine wall, etc., the birth control device may become ectopic, resulting in abdominal pain, menstrual abnormalities and other symptoms.
2. Embedded or fractured birth control device: Due to the damage to the uterine wall when the birth control device is placed or the time spent with the device is too long, part of the device is embedded in the uterine muscle wall or fractured, which may cause abdominal pain, abnormal leukorrhea and other symptoms, and may also affect the effectiveness of contraception.
3. Pregnancy with the device: when the device is dislodged, ectopic, shifted down and so on, it can affect the contraceptive effect, and there may be an unwanted pregnancy.
Placing the birth control device in the uterus is a common means of contraception, but abdominal pain and abnormal menstruation may occur after placement. If discomfort occurs, it is recommended to seek timely medical treatment to avoid affecting your health.
