What’s wrong with your nostrils?

Painful nostrils are most often seen in two diseases: 1) acute nasal vestibulitis and 2) boils on the nostrils. Acute nasal vestibulitis is caused by acute inflammation around the nostrils due to repeated digging of the nostrils and plucking of nasal hairs by the patient, and it can cause severe local pain. Clinical examination shows that the skin around the nostrils is red, swollen and swollen, visible chaps, and local yellowish secretions may exude. In the treatment of acute patients need to cut off the nasal hair, topical erythromycin ointment, cod liver oil drops. Patients need to eat a light diet, no spicy and stimulating food, and pay attention to laxative, which can heal in about a week. In contrast, boils in the nasal cavity often occur due to blockage of the follicular pores at the nostrils, and secretions cannot be discharged out of the body, resulting in scabies, which usually develops unilaterally. On examination, redness and swelling of the nasal opening is visible, and white pus spots may occur on the local surface. In the treatment when the abscess does not break down, you can use neomycin ointment topically and take anti-inflammatory drugs orally at the same time. When the abscess breaks down, it is necessary to cut and drain the abscess to get rid of the pus. However, it should not be squeezed repeatedly, otherwise it will easily cause cavernous sinus thrombophlebitis.
