When there is pain in the location of the heart during deep breathing, we should consider the following possibilities: 1. We should consider whether the patient has acute pericarditis, in the presence of acute pericarditis there is often severe chest pain. This chest pain can be continuous or intermittent, and if it involves the adjacent pleura causing inflammation, the pain can be aggravated during thoracic activities, such as coughing, deep breathing and raising the arms; 2. Pleurisy can also lead to chest pain, which can be aggravated by breathing, especially when breathing deeply. In case of dry pleurisy, the chest pain is stabbing or tearing, mostly located near the anterior and mid-axillary lines in the lower part of the thorax, where sometimes the frictional sound of the pleura can be heard; 3. When a patient has a pneumothorax, the symptoms of chest pain will be caused by the frequency and state of breathing.
