Can an enlarged thyroid gland be cured?

Whether an enlarged thyroid gland can be cured depends on the extent of the enlargement and the cause. In the case of subacute goiter, it is usually curable. In the case of Hashimoto’s disease, fibrous thyroiditis, or benign thyroid tumors, most goiter caused by malignant thyroid tumors cannot be cured. If the enlarged thyroid gland is only mild and the symptoms are not very obvious, it will only be discovered during physical examination. The disease can be cured on its own. Most of them cannot be cured if they are caused by Hashimoto’s disease or fibrotic thyroiditis. If the enlarged thyroid gland is a benign tumor or a malignant tumor, this condition is not curable either. The swelling should be sent for pathological examination after surgery to clarify the nature of the swelling food and then treated symptomatically. A mild enlargement of the thyroid gland usually has no effect, but a severe enlargement can seriously affect people’s physical and mental health.
